Pixar’s COCO Is Set To Become Mexico’s Highest Grossing Film Of All-Time!

Coco is becoming one of the most critically acclaimed films of 2017 and it hasn’t even been released in the US yet. It became Mexico’s highest grossing animated film of all-time, but as of today it marked a new record for Mexico.

Coco is now the highest grossing film of all-time in Mexico! The film which premiered at the Morelia Film Festival and released three weeks ago in Mexico to go along with Dia De Muertos has made 824 million pesos ($43.1M USD) through Wednesday and is set to pass the record of 827 Million pesos set by The Avengers in 2012.

Critics have raved over this film as it sits at a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The film has now been favored to win Pixar its 9th Academy Award for Best Animated Feature at next years Oscars.

“Despite his family’s baffling generations-old ban on music, Miguel (voice of newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) dreams of becoming an accomplished musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (voice of Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colourful Land of the Dead following a mysterious chain of events. Along the way, he meets charming trickster Hector (voice of Gael García Bernal), and together, they set off on an extraordinary journey to unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history. Character actress Renée Victor also joins the cast as Abuelita, Miguel’s grandmother.”

Directed Lee Unkrich and Adrian Molina, Coco will feature the voice talents of Anthony Gonzalez, Gael García Bernal, Benjamin Bratt, Renée Victor and Edward James Olmos.

Coco hits theaters on November 22, 2017.
